Quitting a bad habit is usually harder than starting a good one. When you are ready to stop that thing which after engaging in, you hate yourself so much, do the following: Resolve to change. Tell someone about it : it should be someone whom you trust can help you. It could be your spiritual director, friend or relation. Forget about how long it will take you to stop it : you may stop it in days, weeks, months, or years...depending on your level of addiction. Be patient but determined to change : definitely, you will give in to your addiction occasionally, but do not lose hope. As much as possible, stay away from anything that will make you act otherwise.
